Interview night with the one and only Kevin Bennett and the Flood plus The Flood will be performing live & playing some of Kevin's Greatest Albums, and also a Brief life story and chat with Kevin live on stage, with the Fabulous band The Flood. This will be a one and only night, not to be missed.
Plus our very own local artist Luke Escombe will be our interviewer on stage with Kevin & the Flood,
And of cause Luke will be performing live, some of his own music.
But I do have a confirmed date Saturday 18th November
Kevin Bennett, well-respected indigenous singer/songwriter with Sydney roots band The Flood( currently featuring Glen Hannah, Wayne 'Killer' Kellett and Mik McCartin), CMAA Gold Guitar winner and Aria nominee in 2006 (with The Flood for Best Group) and 2011(with Kasey Chambers for Vocal Collaboration), writes relevant, contemporary Australian music containing elements of Blues, Rock, Folk and Country - telling stories of where he's from and where he might be going, his past and his future….he sings his life. The Flood has recorded 5 universally acclaimed albums including 'The Ballad Of KB', which was recently named in the Top Twenty Australian Country Albums of all time. Rhythms magazine calls The Flood 'the best Australian roots band since The Dingoes.'
In 2005, after 25 years in the music business, it was confirmed through a family search, that KB had Aboriginal heritage and he was from the Kamilaroi Tribe of Northern NSW. Since then, he has been involved in several Indigenous song writing, music and mentoring projects with Tamworth Regional Council, APRA (as Indigenous Ambassador) and more recently with The Jimmy Little Foundation - travelling to remote communities spreading Uncle Jimmy's mantra 'Good tucker, healthy life'!
As part of his musical life, Kevin also mentors aspiring songwriters at the CMAA Country Music Academy, and at The Dag Sheepstation Writers' Retreat at Nundle. It is rewarding, inspiring and fun watching and listening to new writers honing their craft and charting their progress through these truly amazing courses.
After 9 albums and countless 'live' appearances in 2016 KB joined Lyn Bowtell and Felicity Urquhart and recorded their self-titled country/roots debut album, full of great songs and a transcendental like harmony blend, which has taken the Aria and CMC charts by storm and picked up 2 more Golden Guitars for Group Of The Year, and Alternative Country Album Of The Year at the 2017 Awards.
So whether it's solo, The Flood or Bennett, Bowell & Urquhart, KB is still making music that needs to be heard.
